The Fellowship of the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine (FFICM) Final exam is an integral part of the assessment system of the CCT in Intensive Care Medicine.
Trainees undertake the Primary exam which accompanies their route of entry to ICM training.
January 2022 FFICM MCQ Exam
The deadline for applications will be 5pm on Thursday 25 November 2021. Late applications and paper applications will not be accepted.
All FICM membership applications (Affiliate, Associate Member, Member (MFICM), Affiliate Fellowship) submitted with the intent of being approved for eligibility to sit the FFICM MCQ exam must be submitted by 12pm 18 November 2021. There is no guarantee that an application will be processed in time for you to apply for the exam.

FFICM Multiple Choice Paper
From June 2022 the FFICM multiple choice paper will consist of all single best answer questions.
Each of these will have a stem and five alterative answers, one of which is the best (or ‘most correct’) answer.
There will be two types of questions:
- 80 ‘Short’ questions where the stem is short. 1 mark is awarded for each correct response.
- 50 ‘Long’ questions with a longer stem, often a clinical scenario. 2 marks are awarded for each correct response.
The overall exam time will remain 3 hours.
